QUILT HISTORIAN SPEAKER AT THE FEBRUARY MEETING

Fawn Valentine, an author and quilt historian was our guest speaker. Audience members were asked to bring an old quilt for what Valentine termed "quilt readings". "Quilting is an art form that seems to be very popular with our friends, quilts have not only sentimental value but also monetary value. Valentine is the author of the book "West Virginia Quilts and Quiltmakers"

The First picture below…is our guest speaker Fawn Valentine.

The SECOND picture, BELOW…is of a lady from Pennsboro, WV, Her name Mary Collins, age 90. She made this quilt from her memory of the log cabin home where she was raised. This was the first time the quilt was shown.

The additional photos are of the various quilts that were shared with the group. We had over 50 in attendance making a very pleasant day!
