It really isn't that far for me to come. I just have to juggle my schedule to get there during court house hours. Thank you so much for looking in what records you have. My Mother's side of the family is from the Ohio County and Marshall County area; or so I thought! Until I ran into the 1930 census researching her Great Grandmother. "Mary Sands" appears to be a fairly common name back then. I did find their marriage record in Ohio County Library in the book: Record of Marriages by J. Finley Mayes, J.P. It has "Lewis Ruther, Mary Sands, Wheeling, October 21, 1867". I was able to obtain from the National Archives, Lewis Ruther's Civil War record. So, if we can find Mary in Brooke County, I'll email you a copy for your website, if you like. Since, obviously, their daughter, Eliza raised her family in Brooke County. Their son, Charles, my Great Grandfather died in Brooke County. Attached is an old newspaper clipping. I'm sorry I don't know what paper it was in, but feel free to put it on your website if you like. Maybe it will stir up some relative that I'm not aware of who has family information. Feel free to put my email address requesting more info. on the family, if you like.
